[Ruby on Rails] uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::~::ForRspec

April 21st, 2009 post by ice

Today I got an error below with rake.
What happened?

% rake -T
(in /home/ice/messa/hulor)
rake aborted!
uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Testing::SetupAndTeardown::ForRspec
/home/ice/messa/hulor/Rakefile:12
(See full trace by running task with --trace)

Related gem packages version:

  • rails 2.3.2
  • rspec 1.2.4
  • rspec-rails 1.2.4

I can’t remember what I did. But maybe I installed rails into my project (not on system).
I did below???? I can’t remember.

% rake rails:freeze:edge

#801 ‘No such file to load’ when running ‘rake spec’

Sounds like you’ve got rails edge, not rails-2.3.2. These files moved post-2.3.2 – same with ForRspec – that’s all in rails edge, which is now moving towards rails-3.0, and is not supported by rspec yet in any released version, nor in rspec’s own edge.

This says I installed rails edge, not railse 2.3.2.
To fix this probrem execute this command.

% rake rails:freeze:edge RELEASE=2.3.2
% rake rails:freeze:edge RELEASE=2.3.2
(in /home/ice/messa/hulor)
cd vendor
Downloading Rails from http://dev.rubyonrails.org/archives/rails_2.3.2.zip
Unpacking Rails
rm -rf rails
rm -f rails.zip
rm -f rails/Rakefile
rm -f rails/cleanlogs.sh
rm -f rails/pushgems.rb
rm -f rails/release.rb
touch rails/REVISION_b10fb7e7bcb5efea6c93ae52bad125887cfc235c
cd -
Updating current scripts, javascripts, and configuration settings

WordCamp Kansai 2009

April 12th, 2009 post by ianc

We attended the WordCamp Kansai event (Hiro, Asami, Chapp and I) on Friday and had a fantastic time.  It was a mini-WordCamp, more of a get together  and dinner than the one in Tokyo but all the same it was a success. The food was great too, I loved the lobster!

Matt came and gave a presentation, we got to ask him a few questions and he was gracious enough to have a chat with almost everyone, even though you could see he was tired.  We met some really interesting people who were involved with WordPress, and some who weren’t but were part of the web design and development community in the Kansai area.  It was great meeting Oli and Naoko.  I really think that we need more events like these, where we can meet up, share and chat.  I heard that CSS-Nite will become a regular event in Kansai, which is encouraging news.

I hope there more WordCamps for the Kansai area in the future.  Maybe in the future we can have hulorcamps too :)  Thank-you Matt, Naoko and all the organisers.

On and Off at Office

Working hard is always fun for me but I don’t like to care about the last train. That’s why I made my den under my desk like the photo above. It’s cool isn’t it? I can enjoy camping everyday if I want.

Not only sleeping is my work. When I turned on, my desk is going to tranform like this.

Now my bed became a couch behind my desk.

In 1996, Japanese TV picked up behind the scene of legendary Silicon Valley start-up “Netscape”. The disclosure of how Netscape guys working, eonjoying and bedrooms under desks were shocked for a 12 years old kid and their passion through the show changed his life. Yes it was me. It was start of my start-up life.
