Free Japanese prefecture icons

Here are some icons I created of some prefectures in Japan.  The prefectures are Tokyo, Aomori, Hyogo, Kyoto, Okinawa and Shimane . They are in png format (256×256) and you are free to reuse them, but a link back to here would be appreciated. To download, just right click and select Save As.

If anyone has a request for one of the other 41 prefectures, just leave a comment and I’ll make one when I have time.  I chose these prefectures for various random reasons.  For example, Shimane is the home to the Ruby language which is what we do most of our web development on, and Okinawa is my favourite place in Japan.

[UPDATE: Added 3 more prefectures, Iwate, Fukuoka and Nagasaki, as requested in the comments]

Awesome icons! A hint of traditional and modern all rolled in to one!

Would love to see one for Iwate though as that’s where I have lived the past 6.5 years

  2. Matt says:

I`d love one for Fukuoka, because I live here.
Something as simple, yet striking like the above icons.
I think you would have to combine ramen, the ocean, great seafood (fugu, unagi, mentaiko),crazy festivals like Yamakasa, hakata bijin,Fukuoka Tower/Yahoo Dome and shochu.

No problem, I’ll see what I can do for both Iwate and Fukuoka. :)

I’d love one for Nagasaki! Since my girlfriend lives there and I want to show it to her! <3
Good job on the rest! d=(^O^)=b

I created the icons for Iwate, Fukuoka, and Nagasaki and just posted them. Hope you like them. Note that these are icons for the prefectures not the cities.

    Other requests welcome! :)

Pretty icons. It’s a pity that most people in Japan don’t know their prefecture signs. I didn’t know any until I see the name under icons.
